In the lands of Farradin, hidden away in the Blackjaw Mountains, the village of Gardahal faintly smolders in the mountainous terrain. Undisturbed for almost a century, the population of no more than 400 has toiled away in the few farms that could fit in their turbulent lands, the forests that surround all their life, and the coal mines that caused their creation such a long time ago.
You, a commoner of this town, know no more about the world outside this familiar landscape than what you have heard from travelers and raconteurs who float through with the seasons. But through these sources, you hear of dark times barreling down upon us all. They speak of the monsters of nightmares come to life. No one can seem to agree on the truth, but they all admit it's grim.
Not like any of this will affect you though, so you continue on with your life, oblivious of the ever approaching presence that threatens to change the very course of destiny. The ever approaching presence that threatens you.
[/i] Welcome to the lands of Farradin, a world of mystery, magic, and mayhem! You will start as a commoner in the Village of Gardahal, but with such a vague description of the town, you have been left a lot of room to develop just the character you want. As the story progresses, you will grow into the heroes we are all more familiar with playing, but all epics must have there beginnings and so it is that you are to begin in Gardahal. For character creation, post below with at least all the following details. Everything is first come, first serve, so if you want a particular role, post early with a spot holder. You will be becoming full fledged classes later, so assign your abilities and create your back story with that in mind. Keep in mind that we want a full party. Organize the classes to be well rounded so I don't have to make undesired changes later. I want to see: Name: Gender: Age: Race: Human (For now, just human) Desired Future Class: Basic Attributes: (For this, use a 36 point buy system. emrilgame.netau.net/Dmstuff/pointbuy.html) Physical Description: Mental and Moral Attributes: (What makes you, YOU) Profession: Back Story: Try to be as in depth as possible. You want to be able to really connect with your character and role play well. As a general rule, if you can come up with a good reason to do something different and it's creative, I'll allow it. If you want to hide any secrets any your character, you can just PM me those details as well. If you have any questions, just post them below so I can answer for everyone in case they have a similar problem. Good luck, have fun, and I look forward to an epic adventure with everyone!

She is the eldest of six children. She has two younger sisters, Alariel and Floriel, and three younger brothers, Gideon, Rowan, and Marton. Her mother died in childbirth with the youngest, Floriel, who is now four. Marton and Alariel, twins, are six, Rowan is 9, and Gideon is 13. Their father was a blacksmith who specialized in tools used in the coal mines. However he died four years ago, a few months before Floriel was born, leaving his children orphaned several months later when their mother died. He died whilst delivering some new tools to a tunnel deep in the mine when it collapsed, killing all inside. After he died Samriel, whose favorite pass time had been to watch her father work, began working in the smithy. Once her mother died and they lost the income she had provided by sewing, Samriel got another job at the coal mine, by using her horse, Alexsander, to haul coal from the mine at the towns outskirts to all the homes and businesses that purchased it. One day, about a year after her parents died, she found a secret basement while moving some old equipment. In the hidden basement she found a collection of swords, shields, and armor, along with pages of her fathers notes on crafting the aforementioned weaponry. It seemed that he had built a small arsenal, but for what she had no idea. Her father had never been one to fight. She kept the armory a secret, even from her siblings. Fast forward to current day. After years of smithing and coal hauling, Samriel is a tough kid. She continues to work at the smithy and is now a supplier of weapons as well as tools for the mine. She has improved her smithing abilities and had become the most sought after smith in town, not only for the quality of her products but for the decoration and beauty that she incorporates into furnishings for homes. She has allowed Gideon and Rowan to begin working at the smithy as well. They could have made more working in the mines, but after what happened to her father, she would never allow any of the boys to work in the mines. The family lives in a house above the smithy. She works hard everyday to provide for her siblings and as such they have never wanted for food or clothing. Whenever she can she goes out riding with Alexsander. Each day that she spends out riding makes her wish that she could keep riding and never turn back, but thoughts of her siblings tie her down. Returning home after her rides is more disappointing each time.

When writing the back story, remember that you starting as commoners. If anything spectatular has happened in your life, it has only been examples of will power, mental attributes, or sheer luck. Avoid anything that gives you an unfair advantage over others and things that make you more heroic than any other commoner. Your powers will come later.

So I guess another way of saying this is, if you have desired heroic traits, like being a nimble rouge, then say your character climbed trees and stole an extra piece of bread from the dinner table.

Name: Ivar Steinmes Gender: Male Age: 17 Race: Human Desired Future Class: Cleric
Basic Attributes: Str:15 Dex:12 Con:12 Int:15 Wis:16+2 Cha:11
Physical Description: 6'1", 174lbs. Well-built and tall, but never over-bearing, well kept and neat in most respects. Holds cleanliness in high regard, with his dark brown hair and pale skin, and hands hardened from work.
Mental and Moral Attributes: -Lawful Good -Wise beyond his years, and holds intelligence and wisdom in high esteem -Friendly, but not particularly charismatic -Strict personal discipline, believes rules are meant to be followed -Loyalty and discipline are traits to be desired and expected in all
Profession: Clergyman
Back Story: Given to the local church as a child, Ivar grew up with the monks that lived there, and thus became part of the order of Bahamut monks. The monks required daily work in the small field by the monastery, making Ivar strong and teaching him the discipline he holds dear. A strict regiment of rules and schedules taught him to follow the orders of his betters at all costs. Much of the time spent in the monastery was spent studying the deities in books and songs and simple artwork throughout the monastery. This gave him great intelligence and wisdom beyond his years. This was helpful when the head-monk died, and leaving Ivar as the last surviving member of the order at only 15 years old. He has spent the last three years teaching a young apprentice to try and revive the small church but it has proved difficult. Being cloistered for his entire life has not made Ivar particularly sociable, but has given him a long time to think and grow strong. He hopes that his apprentice, Yorin, can eventually take over the monastery some day. Unfortunately, the stories coming in of evils rising in the world has Ivar troubled. He seems to hear a voice calling him out of his home and into the world, to bring his god's justice and order and law.

If being powerless is so terribly wrong, then does having power make you right?

Make a more serious character and you can play. Like maybe make her not 11, or change the thing about cutting herself, and the daddy issues. Daddy issues usually hit in the late teens from what I've gathered. make her like 18
